Commercial indoor pool deck

One site, photographed on the job.

A commercial indoor pool deck, photographed on the job from September 17 to 19, 2024. The deck was laid in dry pack between screed rails, set to a laser line marked on the wall.

The first day started with a narrow strip between rails along the wall, with delineator posts keeping the area closed off. By the second day the long strip beside the pool was finished, divided by a rail line, and the crew was working across the deck, one of them lying flat to float the mortar. On the third day the bays along the pool were floated between the rails.

Working the edge along the pool first means the most visible line, where the coping and the tile meet the water, is set before the open bays, which are then struck off between the rails. The finished bed was handed over for the tile and the coping, which are set by the stone or tile setter.
