Basement back to the foundation walls
One site, photographed on the job.
A basement taken back to its foundation walls, photographed over two days in September 2025. On the first day the drywall came off the stud walls, then the framing came down, with the lumber stacked and the tools kept off the floor, and the rec room was cleared of broken board.
On the second day the furniture that stayed in the basement, a sofa and a tall cabinet, was wrapped in plastic sheeting, and the floor was cleared and scraped back to the concrete. The last photo shows the basement with its bare walls, the steel posts and joists exposed, and the scraper still leaning on a post.
A tear-out like this is the first step before anything new goes in: once the slab is clean and sound, the new floor can be built on it, whether a dry pack screed, a basement bathroom built to a new drain, or both. Capping the plumbing and the power before the work starts is done by the plumber and the electrician.
